1. Landscape the enterance sign to Presque Isle. 2
designs have been submitted and a decision will be made
very shortly on which design we are going forward with.
Construction to be coordinated and completed on M night
June 5th. Members will be needed for many different tasks.
2. Charlie Kabaggams grave:
Simply clean up, de-weed the area, was the stone, plant
flowers if needed. Still open for ideas but we don't want
to make a lot of changes. Service will be completed in
corrdination with 'M' night June 5th.
3. Lions Den (Shiras Zoo) Large
planting area encased by stone formation. Some bushes
left over from original plantings over three years ago.
It's our to do what ever we want with so please visit
the site and think about some ideas. This also will be
coordinated with our next 'M' night.

The Presque Isle Advisory Committee
me on May 19th, 2004 and made a decision that we will
be able to move forward with this project. The target
start date is the second week in June. A fundraising event
was also planned for the third weekend in July. This event
will consist of standing in front of the Presque Isle
entrance sign and asking for donations from passers by.
(Similar to fireman boot drive)
Project Summary:
Late last fall a committee was formed
to meet with the Presque Isle Advisory Committee so see
what the Marquette Michigan Jaycees could do to help with
the on going plan of a handicap accessible pathway on
Presqeu Isle. Phase one of the pathway is a permanent
path from the pavilion to the band shell area. The committee
put together an executive proposal to get this pathway
underway by mid June. Through the attendance at the advisory
meetings and many hours of research away from the advisory
board we were able to get our proposal approved by the
Presque Isle Advisory Committee, city manager and city
engineers. We also sparked interest in the City's union
employees. The City Union employees have now volunteered
their labor as-well-as machinery to this project. This
will save the Jaycees, the dedicated time and service
of this committee and ever growing reputation of the Marquette
Area Jaycees. This project would continue to sit in the
planning stages as it has for the past 5 years if it wasn't
for the Marquette Area Jaycees.
Project Needs:
Volunteers will be needed on a daily
basis once this project get underway in mid June. Since
we don't have a general meeting before then, we will use
the website for most of our communication. Please come
out and support this project.
Special thanks to committee members:
Paul Schloegel, Sven Holmquist, Mike Pastor, and Todd
Scott.
